Introduction
Architecture is based on buildings but it is also something more than that.Ruskin's definition of architecture says that architecture is 'ornament added to building'. Some of the sublimest works of architecture have either no ornament at all, or only such as is of the siomplest and most abstract kind.
When architecture called in the aid of decorative arts of paintings and sculpture, they were employed not on mere ornamental additions, but on constructive   features.  Architecture does not consist in beautifying building but on the contrary in building beautifully. The definition of architecture by Vitruvius ,as building guided and directed by reason we only want to add the condition of beauty and the inclusion of the aesthetic sence within the realm of reason.Architecture is the poetry of construction , so does building pass into architecture with th superior grace with the main forms of the fabric, perfect expression of the condition of the construction and closer harmony between the purpose and achievement.By Vitruvius architecture is a science involving much discipline and mental training and deep knowledge of various kinds. Architecture   is the master art which governs all subsidiary work and also is said that it springs from two elements a knowledge of practical building work and the application , the retro of reasoning. These are equally necessay and essential. The dicipline of Vitruvius is to include skill in drawing , in geometry, in arithmetic, some knowledge of optics, a wide acquaintance with history  and a diligent study of philosophy, in other words for Vitruvius calles discipline  the practice supported and guided by theory . The reason is brought up to bear over practice and this influence once begun and carried on with advancing skill. The aesthetic sense, the love of beautyis innate in man. The art has progressed    without any question of the introduction of ornament.Palaeothic man before ever he learned to build at all, decorated the walls of his cave. The early artist of Egypt seized eagerly on the blank walls of tomp and temple. This surface decoration had no influence on the architecture.  Thus architecture was developed from structural neccessities and suggestions , not by addition of  ornament to structural form but by bending the structural forms themselves into forms of beauty.Architecture is construction inspired by new spirit. It implies an artistic sense and aspiration.
